In the Room — Open Rehearsals & Workshops

with artists and choreographers

In the Room is an open programme of rehearsals, workshops and shared practice sessions with artists and choreographers. These sessions invite artists, performers and curious audiences into the auditorium to witness creative process up close — and, where appropriate, take part.

Across January and February, the auditorium becomes a working studio: a place for experimentation, conversation, movement, performance and play. Some sessions offer the chance to observe professional artists in rehearsal, while others invite anyone interested to participate in practical workshops exploring ideas, space and form.

This is a rare opportunity to step inside the creative process and be part of a living, evolving practice.

How It Works

Each day is divided into two sessions:

Morning Session — 10.00 to 13.00

Usually open rehearsals (unless stated otherwise)

  • Attend as an observer

  • Participation may be possible if agreed with the artists on the day

  • Please arrive at 10.00am prompt (late entry is not possible)

Open rehearsals offer a chance to watch professional artists developing work in real time and to experience how ideas take shape in the room.

Afternoon Session — 14.00 to 16.00

Open workshops and shared practice sessions

  • Open to anyone interested in creative exploration

  • Practical, playful and participatory

  • No previous experience required

  • Please arrive at 2.00pm prompt

Workshops are relaxed, welcoming sessions for experimenting with movement, performance, space and ideas in the auditorium.

You do not need to be a professional artist to attend — just open, curious and ready to explore.

  • All sessions must be booked in advance

  • Places are limited

  • Please arrive on time — late entry is not possible
